Well, after a disappointing start to the season, both weather wise and some poor team performances, Fringford CC bounced back yesterday to claim their first victory of the season, sporting the new look kit (many thanks to all our sponsors).
Torrential rain all morning looked as though it would scupper another Saturday of cricket, however, the sun came out at lunchtime and the ground staff got straight to work, doing a tremendous job to get the game started by 2:15pm.
The skipper lost the toss (as usual) and Westcott chose to bat on a dry wicket (well done the new covers!). However, the decision to bat first proved a little hasty as Royston Blake (5-26) and Shaun Foote (3-32) ripped through the Westcott top order and Steve Mitchell (2-5) mopped up the tail, leaving Westcott a mere 74 all out. Jonny Reid, Ian Hedley and JK all then chipped in with some runs to ease Fringford past the total for a comfortable win. Well done everyone and good luck to all playing in the cup game at Wootton & Boars Hill on Sunday.
